About:
I was asked if I may be able to come to a National Church of God, Women’s Conference held at Winebrenner Seminary in Findlay, Ohio. At that time, my mother was still recovering from her stroke 1 1/2 years ago and my father’s death in August 2008. I had agreed that I would come before my mother had fallen and broken her right hip. I had three hours to prepare and bring my supplies there to begin a new piece. The only thing I kept thinking about was some photographs I had taken after Dad just passed away. They were beautiful grapes that were so full, colorful, juicy in my parents backyard. So I brought several photos with me to hopefully use as well as another photo of a woman and girl that I liked.
Not knowing the theme of the conference, I walked into the main room of the sanctuary where I was to work, and saw on the tables, vases with grapes flowing out of them. I was amazed and wondered if I truly was going to use the grape photos I brought. On the third day, I looked carefully at my drawing and noticed a figure of light was forming before my very eyes. I believe it is more representative of God the Father. At the end of the conference, I was handed a brochure with the theme written, “Growing Together.” I thank God for the fruit in our lives, even though my father was gone. We still grow like the grapes, little girl, her mother along with the figure of God the Father, who reaches out to touch and protect us. Notice even the branches on the right of the piece actually formed a symbol of the Fish, representing Christianity.
