About:
It was unusal for me to bring two canvases and to work on them together in Toledo with Kim Clement but I sensed inside my spirit to obey. As I traveled again the next evening, I had prayed and asked the Lord what He may want for me to do. I saw the back of a man with his arms raised up and the Lord intently gazing upon him. After my easel and paints were set up, I scanned to look across the congregation. I am not sure why I was surprised to see the same man I had seen in my spirit within the hour of traveling. He had his arms raised up just before the service began! I was so excited that I grabbed my sketch pad and completed a five minute drawing of him. Looking back on this, I should have brought my camera!
I also finished this piece at the Breaking Free Men’s Conference in Columbus. I began to see chains fall off the man while on his knees and raising up his arms as a sign of surrender. I felt strongly this man was feeling the Presence of God swirling around him with His Holy Fire of Protection. This piece has been most fun to paint because my prayers are truly for men “to break free” from addictions, pride, complacency, and fears of all kinds. I believe this will be the first of many in a series as I have been asked to do more with men in paintings.
